Mountain Man Historical Encampment
Come and listen to the stories of mountain men as they interpret the lifestyles of the 1830’s and the gold seekers of the 1849 era. Step back into history with a visit to a Rendezvous, you’ll see how they lived, traded and worked. The Gilman Ranch will host a unique opportunity for students, parents and teachers to interact with and observe a lifestyle whose skills have been long forgotten.
Program includes museum and house tours, blacksmithing, pioneer doll making, rug braiding and gold panning. Demonstrations by Mountain men include: the tomahawk throw, flint napping, black powder shooting, dutch oven cooking, tents and teepees, old fashion games for children and much more.Where: The Historic Gilman Ranch & Wagon Museum
