Badge or Achievement Programs Offered At Hidden Valley Nature CenterTiger Cub Scouts Let’s Go Outdoors (req. 5-d, f, g): Join one of our experienced naturalists on an exciting nature hike. Observe the weather, make a leaf rubbing, and discover some of the plants and animals of Hidden Valley. Make a wetland creature necklace to take home. (Cost: $3.00 per scout) Learn About Animals (Elective 31): Learn about some of the animals that make Hidden Valley their home. Take a hike and make an animal track cast to take home. (Cost: $3.00 per scout) Feed the Birds (Elective 32): Learn all about birds. We will take a hike with binoculars to see how many different kinds we can discover. Make your own bird feeder to take home. (Cost: $3.00 per scout) Wolf Cub Scouts Birds (Elective 13-a, b, d, and e): Join us in learning about the many different kinds of birds that live in or “visit” Hidden Valley. Make your own bird feeder to take home. (Cost: $3.00 per scout) Bears Cub Scouts Sharing Your World with Wildlife (Achievement 5-b, c, d, and e): Join us to find out about some of the local animals and learn which ones are in danger of disappearing forever. Learn some birding skills and make a bird feeder to take home. (Cost: $3.00 per scout) American Indian Life (Elective 24-a, b): Find out who was living in the area before the Europeans. Learn about their home, how it was made and the materials used to make it. See a model of what their home would have looked like. Make and play Native American games. (Cost: $3.00 per scout) Weblos Scouts Naturalist (Req. 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11): Join us while we go on a search for wildlife along the Santa Ana River bottom. But first we will learn about the poisonous plants and venemous snakes found in the area. Make and take home an animal track cast. (Cost: $3.00 per scout)
(All programs are available by appointment only. The programs last approximately 1 1/2 hours and includes a hike and craft. Minimum registration: 10 scouts or $30.00.) |
