Scheduling and Preparing for Programs
How to Schedule a Program:

When you call, please have ready:
- several preferred dates
- preferred program
- the number of children attending
- the school and grade
- contact name, phone, & FAX numbers
Group Size
On most days, the nature center can handle 2 to 3 average classes (60-65 children total). If you are planning to bring more than 65 children we may need to schedule them for multiple days.
Fees/Payment
The program fee is $3.00 per child.
Payment can be made by cash, P.O. or check (payable to: HVWA) in advance or at the time of the program.
Confirmations/Cancellations
A faxed confirmation will be sent out prior to your visit. Please check this over carefully to be sure all the information is correct. We do not proceed with the program in the case of rain; please call if you have any questions. Outreach programs are available at anytime.
Lunches
Please bring sack lunches and an extra bottle of water for each child. There are no drinking fountains available. Outside picnic tables are available for lunch. Lunch time is factored into the program.
Dress for success
Come prepared for the weather and count on being outside for most of the program. Children should wear a coat if the weather requires and closed toed shoes. Sunscreen and bug repellant are recommended.
Customizing
We are happy to work with you to customize our programs to best fit your instructional needs or the specific needs of your students. Our school tours are aligned to content standards for California. If you would like specific concepts, vocabulary or other information emphasized, please call as soon as possible to work out those specifics.
