Animals
The Reserve is home to more than 200 species of native birds and 49 endangered, threatened or rare animal and plant species. To sustain the Plateau’s unique populations of animals and plants, a land corridor linking the Plateau’s 8,300 acre Reserve to the 140,000 acres of the Trabuco Ranger District of the Cleveland National Forest, is being purchased. This land is intended to allow safe passage of animals and reproducing plants between these two protected areas for generations to come.
